Notes on John J. and Kate Mulligan [or Mulrane]Shevlin Family
Quit claim deed dated March 9, 1897 for land in the town of Hunter bought by the late John J. Shevlin on April 21, 1879. Party of the first part consists of "heirs at law" of John J. Shevlin, including John J. Shevlin [Jr.] and his wife Jeannette, Minnie E. Nichols, Charles A Shevln, James J. Shevlin, and George A. Shevlin. Party of the second part is Kate Shevlin. Property is a part of lot number 2 of Great Lot 25 of the Hardenburgh Patent. All parties are from New York county, city, and state.

John J. Shevlin died at 30 Lewis Street in New York City on June 16, 1893, age 48. He was born in Ireland and were his parents Hugh and Mary Shevlin. He was in the U.S. for 45 years. [State of New York, Certificate and Record of Death, 22365]
Mary [Minnie], daughter of John and Kate Mulligan Shevlin born August 9, 1874. John age 25, a paver? Kate age 23. Both parents born Ireland. Address 402 E. 76 Street. [New York City birth certificate 140592].
Charles J.Shevlin born August 18, 1906 in Brooklyn. Son of John J. Shevlin [Jr.], age 30, plumber, and Catherine McCloskey Shevlin, age 26. Address 1042 Halsey Street, Brooklyn, New York. [Brooklyn birth certificate 26757]. This may or may not be John J. Shevlin, Jr. Note that wife is Catherine, not the Jeannette referenced in quit claim deed.
George A. Shevelin, age 28, married Alice R.[?] Canning, age 23, on November 23, 1904 in New York City. He is the son of John J. and Catherine Malonie[?] and she is the daughter of William and Ann B.... Canning. Charles A. Shevelin a witness. Certificate number 1133.
James J. Shevlin, age 24 of 2 Catherine Slip[?}, married Mary Wagner, age 22, on September 12, 1898 in New York City. He is the son of John J. Shevlin and Catherine Mulrine[?]. She is the daughter of George and Mary Noll[?} Wagner. Certificate 14455 and 18302 [sic].
